The short animated films made for the “Secret Kingdom” exhibition were created by combining different techniques. An ad hoc language was created for each one that would enhance the precious archive material, developing narration and imagery in dialogue with the atmospheres evoked by that rich graphic world.
The short films were made by the Mira collective.
Mira is a collective created by Alessandra Atzori and Milena Tipaldo.
Both are formed in Animation at the Experimental Center of Cinematography in Turin. They follow very different professional paths but sharing similar passions and imaginaries for which they decide to join the collective to explore together new areas of visual communication.
Through various audiovisual techniques, Mira moves between experimentation, dissemination and art, with the aim of creating bridges between different areas of knowledge, and between knowledge and the community.
Our aim is to open and unlock dialogues using the power of the moving image. By putting research, art and beauty at the center of all our products, we create worlds that can be traveled by anyone with the aim of generating involvement and participation in the belief that culture is, and should be, a common good.

Storia di Edina Altara is a tribute to this exceptional artist. The film was conceived taking inspiration from the techniques she used for her illustrations, recreating a universe made of paper and clippings in which the narrative theater is a large pop-up book created in collaboration with Libri Finti Clandestini. Each chapter of the book stages a part of Edina's story. The memory of his past is evoked thanks to the use of old photographs and illustrations inserted within a world in which symbolic representation and documentation of reality come together in a single painting.

The satirical world of Il Pasquino magazine could only be celebrated with a “pasquinata”!
Starting from the origin of the name Pasquino, the story of some authors who took over the direction in different historical moments is told: Enrico Gianeri, Tarquinio Sini and Giovanni Manca. The story is shown through the pages of an imaginary magazine bound by Clandestine Fake Books using recycled paper in various formats. The film brings together different techniques, from the stop motion of the printed pages, to the digital animation of the magazine's archive and photographic material, to the satirical commentary of the gestures in pixillation. The vision is accompanied by the narrator who, mimicking the reporters of the Istituto Luce, recites an ironic nursery rhyme interpreting what comes alive on the stage.

La tentazione di Beppe Porcheddu moves in a surreal space made up of arches digitally recreated in computer graphics that fit together to frame the illustrations that Porcheddu created to illustrate Flaubert's "The Temptation of St. Anthony". The vision is guided by the narrator who, interpreting some passages of the book, guides us in a suspended labyrinth of arches, columns and spans that recall the Romanesque cathedrals of Sardinia.

Bebop Pintori is a game of rhythm and color that comes to life starting from the brilliant tables that Pintori created for Olivetti. On a be-bop musical time, the graphic elements of Pintori's works come alive and dance following the rhythm of the music and then recompose themselves in their original form to allow the public to admire the composition in its entirety.
